A masterful pitching performance carried the Yankees A Crimson to a 5-0 victory over Sutter Creek. Bob Smith held them scoreless in a complete game effort. He permitted 3 hits, had 3 strikeouts and allowed no walks.
The skipper of the Dynamite said, "Smith was sharp. We never did figure him out."
To date Smith is 14-7 in 27 starts with a 2.37 ERA and has 115 strikeouts in 182 innings. |
 | Monday, August 6th, 1917: Lee Collects Player of the Week Award
It was a week to remember for Billy Lee. After wrapping up a torrid week at the plate, the River Rouge Rats left fielder was named the Sub League 2 Player of the Week.
Lee collected 8 hits in 22 at-bats for a .364 average. He also accounted for 10 RBIs, 2 home runs and scored 7 runs.
So far in 1917 Lee is batting .269 with 13 home runs, 62 RBIs and 57 runs scored. He has 110 hits in 409 at-bats and a .336 OBP. |

Pete Shields went on a hitting rampage last week against Sub League 1 pitchers and collected the Player of the Week Award.
The Tulsa first baseman connected for 9 hits in 24 at-bats and 1 home run. For the week he hit .375 with 4 RBIs and scored 3 runs.
So far in 1917, Shields is batting .320 with 2 home runs and 54 RBIs. |
